WEEK FORTY

“Wendera” in all her glory. 29.12.2007.

Festivities made for a short week, but there were plenty of

family and friends on hand to assist.

It was a week for working on windows. There certainly will be

no shortage of light in the saloon.

After “torture-boarding ” the fairing on the bow, no expense

was spared to ensure “Craftsman Chris’s” comfort!

Coring, coring and more coring. The mainsheet traveller fittings,

the genoa winch and traveller and the daggerboard control

line fittings.

Miss designed and constructed the winerack. Pop helped

with the hole cutting. Bottle for measuring purposes only!!

Port ensuite progress and close-up of sullage tank.

Housings were made for the ladders and some of the instruments

and controls were dry fitted in the port helm station.

Most of this item of kitchen furniture was constructed with

recycled “featherlight” offcuts. Much glueing and sanding

was required. Brad caught hard at it!

WEEK THIRTY NINE

Now officially the catamaran “Wendera”

What she looked like on Dec 22.

Christmas arrived at the shed.

It’s not fair! Miss gets all the best (#%^&!{?) jobs.

It was VERY hot up there that day.

GLASSING FEST

This week was a glassing fest, with glass applied to any

surface where there had been no glass before!

The hatches, windows and the fabulous fridge/freezer arrived,

and the stove was dry fitted.

Some “silverware” made an appearance on the boat.

Brad made new from old. Recycling “Featherlight”.

A Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year.

Action will recommence on “Wendera” on Thursday 27

with all hands on deck.

WEEK THIRTY EIGHT

Nothing major to see on the outside, but plenty being done

on all those modules and inside areas.

Remember that galley module that originally went together

the wrong way around? ( Courtesy of Geriatric Apprentice )

Well here it is being cut up to make places for the sink and

stove/oven.

The above five pictures show how areas are being strengthened

by adding extra layers of glass or foam.

Starboard and port ladders in place.

Final coats of paint are on in the engine rooms and

the inside of some of the cupboards.

Work is progressing in the en suites and on the starboard bow.

Port helm station dry fitted and both helms off and glued.

Port trampoline surrounds glued in place.

Some tweaking on the cockpit module and testing of a

cushion for size, hardness and colour.

WEEKS THIRTY SIX AND THIRTY SEVEN

 

It’s hard to get it all in on one picture, but this gives

an idea of progress.

Port and starboard bow sections from the forebeam.

Hatch and window holes cut out.

   

Cabin side extensions fitted and coved

Coving and glassing roof to sides and bulkheads.

Glassed top and view with supports removed.
