A little bit of W.A. in the boat

Anchor point                                               Anchor point2

Paul was determined to have a little bit of W.A in the boat, so he backed the anchor bridle points with pieces  of W.A. jarrah. Hang the extra weight!!!

Now for an explanation of panels and joining them:

The composite panels are of two types:

1. “Duflex” (structural panels) are made of end grain balsa wood laminated with an epoxy//biaxial E fibreglass skin.

Duflex panels                                              Duflex2

2. “Featherlight” (non-structural panels) consist of a phenolic impregnated paper-honeycomb core laminated with an epoxy/biaxial E fibreglass skin.

Featherlight                                       Zjoint

See why it is called a Z joint?

Each panel comes routered to produce the individual shapes which correspond to the assembly instructions in the detailed plans.

This shows a section of a panel containing the daggerboard cases. Each piece is cut out by jigsawing through the remaining sections marked with red circles.
